Vision Statement for Gardners Bay Farm
Gardners Bay Farm
At Gardners Bay Farm, we are more than just a farm - we are stewards of the land, champions of sustainability, and architects of a brighter future. Our mission is rooted in the belief that farming can be a force for good, not just for profitability but also for environmental restoration and community prosperity.
Through our unwavering commitment to regenerative practices, we are transforming our farm into a thriving center of sustainable agriculture. By prioritizing the well-being of the land through regenerative farming methods, we are not only ensuring the longevity of our operations but also actively contributing to the vitality of the ecosystem.
As we look to the future, we envision the growth of new infrastructure, including a commercial kitchen for processing our harvest. This development will enable us to share the fruits of our labor with a broader audience, spreading the benefits of nutrient-rich food produced through sustainable means.
Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a biodiverse agricultural ecosystem that flourishes on regenerative principles, offering food that nourishes both the body and the soul. Through workshops, leasing opportunities, and community engagement, we are creating a vibrant hub where innovation and sustainability intersect to shape a more sustainable tomorrow.
We understand the importance of intertwining financial stability, ecological stewardship, and community support to establish a lasting legacy of abundance. Our commitment to integrating economic viability, environmental responsibility, and social cohesion guides us in building a sustainable model that endures through generations.
At Gardners Bay Farm, we are not just growing food; we are planting the seeds for a more sustainable future for all. Join us on this journey towards a greener, healthier tomorrow.
Mission Statement
At Gardners Bay Farm, our long-term mission is to create a thriving, sustainable agricultural hub that serves as a focal point for community engagement and development. Our vision is anchored on the following key objectives:
Property Ownership: Acquiring the land we currently lease is paramount to our mission. We are dedicated to securing the foundation of our operations and ensuring long-term stability for the farm.
On-Site Commercial Kitchen: We are committed to establishing a commercial kitchen on our premises. This facility will be the heart of our processing operations, allowing us to transform our produce into value add goods. Additionally, the kitchen will serve as a culinary hub, hosting farm lunches, dinners, and providing a space for other local businesses to lease.
Community Workshops: Gardners Bay Farm will be a center for learning and collaboration. Our goal is to organize and facilitate a variety of workshops, covering topics such as agriculture, sustainability, cooking, and crafts. We also aim to empower members of the community to host their own workshops, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and creativity.
Through these initiatives, Gardners Bay Farm seeks to cultivate a resilient and inclusive community that values sustainable agriculture, local entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning.
We provide fresh vegetables and fruits to restaurants in Hobart and the Huon Valley, along with offering a vegetable box program for our local community. All our produce is grown on-site using organic and regenerative practices, with a strong emphasis on promoting soil health. We take pride in delivering our produce weekly, ensuring nutrient-dense food reaches our customers directly from our fields.
Korean Natural Farming (KNF): Developed by Master Cho Han-Kyu as a sustainable farming methodology.
Focuses on utilizing indigenous microorganisms and natural resources for ecosystem health.
KNF promotes soil fertility through cultivating and nurturing native microorganisms (IMOs).
IMOs play a crucial role in enhancing soil fertility, suppressing pathogens, and promoting plant health.
The process of cultivating IMOs involves fermenting natural ingredients like rice bran, fruits, and herbs.
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand the principles and philosophy of Korean Natural Farming.
Gain knowledge about soil health's importance in regenerative agriculture.
Discover natural strategies for disease and pest management.
Acquire skills in making and using various KNF inputs for plant nutrition and soil amendment.
Harvest effective microorganisms to make solutions for soil enhancement.
